Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas
For Game Day at our school, I bought materials for a poster for game day, the poster, and my two other friends and I stayed up making it. During game day my friend Julia was holding the sign and we let our friend Bri hold the sign to be nice. Our sign ended up winning the $25 dollar gift card, they handed the gift card to my friend Julia and then Bri asked if "we could see it", instead of handing the card to me like she should have she pocketed the gift card. The day after I asked her for the gift card and she said she would give me the money for only a third of it. Now she has left our camping group and is now saying she wont give us any money from what is rightful mine since I paid for the sign and made it, and saying she has right to it because she has it and she likes being a bitch. I need the money I used to make the sign and should rightful have the gift card from her. We have evidence of the gift card being handed to my friend Julia . Do we have a small claims courts case here?

Yes, I do not envy the judge that has to hear it. No offense, but it sounds like it will be a lot of hen clucking, (if the defendant shows up) This is the type of case that might be ripe for one of those teleivsion judge shows. You might try to contact some.
