Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas

Can my land lord charge me a fee on top of rent for breaking a lease. I have lived in my house for 2 years in april and we have a year to year lease, and we have thought about moving when i asked the process she told me that i would have to do the early termination option which i would have to pay 800 (dec rent) and then a 1200 fee for breaking the lease. Can she do this??

You do nto owe anyting more than the total rent fo rall months through March 31st. In order to pay less than that you will have to get the conset of your landlord or comply with the early termiantion provisions of your lease. You did not state what the provison in your lease agreement says. Have you coinsiderd finding a sub lessee?

Good luck
