What if your landlord threatens to change your locks without a eviction notice if your rent is late?

The mere threat to do that act may trigger some statutory releif for a tenant. But, if he does change the locks without giving you a key, the tenant can sue for damages. There is process for eviction through the court, and these type of self-help tactics are prohibited. Obviously, the easiest answer is to pay the rent or move out.
