Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas

lease

I just signed a lease for my apartment for one year in march of this year.

I have just recently been approved for a loan and I am looking for a house. If I find one and the contract goes through will I be held liabe for the rental agreement I made with my land lord on my apartment?

I heard some where you can not be held liable if you are buying a home but, that you would be if you were looking to rent another place. I was just curious as to what will happen to me.

Thank's for your time.

Re: lease

You are responsible for the term of the lease unless there is some way to break the lease. There is no law that allows a renter to break a lease if she is buying a house. However, talk to the landlord and explain what you are doing. Both of you can be looking for another tenant so when you leave there may be someone to take the place. You will be responsible for all months the apartment is vacant up to the term of the lease.
