Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas
After months of looking for the right apartment we decided on a very clean and very well maintained, undamaged apartment with great cosmetic features in Memphis Tn. Upon deciding after a few weeks we discovered from the leasing rep. that that specific floor plan was available minus a garden tub, built in bookcase, and white cabinets. We were totally fine with that. However we were told that we cold not view it because it was not ready for viewing. We trusted the rep. and decided to wait till the move in/ lease signing date. A lease was signed before a walk through because we had total confidence that we were going to receive a great clean apt. The maintenance manager personally met with us and told us that he had just finished the walk through and that a minor cabinet problem was the only thing present and that it would be handled immediately. We moved in and were totally blown away. The bottom of the cabinets were dirty and damaged and all they did was throw a piece of particle board in its place with no chalking.. which left cracks in each corner where sml insects can enter into the apt. through the bathrooms and the kitchen. The apartment was not properly cleaned stains, dirty blinds, just primer for paint where anywhere u touch a scratch appers and toilet paper matted into corners of the b.r. The bathroom sink counter is swelling from water damage and the cabinets are rotting to the point where they are disenegrating. There is water damage on ceiling and loose vents and toilets. When taking a shower the water does not stay hot for more than 10 min and we have to wait literally 4 to 5 hrs to get hot water to shower again. what can i do abt this this is not what was shown or promised.
