Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas
I was given a motorcycle by my friend who was also a part time employer. He gave it to me on my birthday as a gift, with the understanding that he would keep the vehicle titled and registered under his name, due to my problems with drug addictions. The understanding (which I agreed to) was that he didn't want me to be able to pawn or sell it in order to finance my addiction. I had possession of the vehicle for approximately 5 months. Recently we got into a disagreement over wages, and as a result he came and took the motorcycle. I have several people that can back my claim that it was a gift, and that my ownership of the vehicle was in no way related to my employment with him. Do I have a legitimate claim?

You describe in detail how yrou friend kep tthe tiel in his name. Therefore, you will have hard time showing that he gave you anything more than the use of the motorcycle. If you can prove that you paid the insurance and taxes on teh bike, you might have slightly stronger case. Under the fact syou describe, your frien dwoudl nto have to show that the cycle is in anyway conected with the employment. As it is, he has he bike, and the titel in his name. What you seem to have are people willing to testify that he let you use if for a while. If you spent money to repair or imporve the bike, you might be ble to bring those in small claims court to say that you are owed recompense for those expenses.
