what right do stepkids have if they were never adapted

my husband brother passed away three monts ago , no will. he did have a house which also had his sisters name as an owner , three weeks ago she sold that house and now his stepson asking for the half of the money. my brother in law never adapted those kids what right if any do they have.

he was married to there mother for 18 years and she died 5 years ago, please let us know.

It appears that the stepson may not be entitled to anything from the sale of the house, based on teh limited facts you provided. However, he may have inherited something through his mother, who may have passed, to him, whatever interest she had in the property (if any) when she passed.
