This is of course a federal income tax question primarily and should be directed to a tax preparer for guidance. You need to look at your divorce decree or settlement agreement to see if you are given both custody and the right to the children as dependents. I believe there is a federal tax form to fill in when this issue comes up and is improperly claimed by one parent.
