Mistake in my favor. How do I recover the balance due?
I somehow didn't include my mortagate tax on my itemized and lost a significant amount of return. How do I fix this?

You need to file an amended income tax return, Form 1040X. You will probably also have to file an amended state income tax return.
If you would like to get your refund analyzed cheaply, H&R Block has a "Second Look" program. They will actually enter the information into the program, and determine what your tax return should have been. The cost is between $29 - $49.
I hope this helps!
