Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas

Affidavit of defense: Guilty/ Not Guilty

I got into an accident when I was visiting Kansas City for a career fair and got into an accident with another vehicle. I was lost and did not a see a stop sign and now I have a ticket and a court date for ''failing to stop at a stop sign'' in Kansas City , MO. I have an affidavit of defense ( so as not to have to physically appear in court, since I live in Florida). I want to plead not guilty, but will that mean that I will have another court date and will have to then appear in court. I really wanna have to avoid going back to Kansas, since I am a student and don't have any money. What should I do?

Re: Affidavit of defense: Guilty/ Not Guilty

If you wish to plead "not guilty" you will most likely have another court date set, or the court may hold the trial that day. In either case, you will have to be present for the trial.

I am a bit confused by the second part of your posting. If you say you missed the stop sign, why do you want to plead not guilty for failure to stop?

It seems much cheaper to have an attorney plead your ticket down for you. I may be able to get this dealt down to a non-moving violation. Please contact me if you are interested in having you case resolved without you having to come back to KC. Please have your insurance information and any ticket or report numbers listed in your email.

Good Luck,

Tony Smith
