Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas

Is there entrapment for speeding?

Is it legal for an officer to park on private property with his lights off and proceeed to pull people over? Also what is the law as it pertains to accelorating at a speed change sign? In other words can you not accelorate until you have passed the sign. One more question, I was following a full sized truck in a mid sized suv going the same speed as I. I have been told that radar will take the bigger vehicle. I have also been told that the officer that pulled me over is not certified to use radar. Is any of this a defense?

Re: Is there entrapment for speeding?

If the officer who gauged yoru speed by use of a radar system he is ill-trianed to operate, you may have a basis for a defense. However, you never denied that you were speeding. Generally if you are ina 35 mph hour zone, and you see asign ahead that says 45 mph, you may go past 35 mph when you pass the sign. Most Judges will agree to reduced charges or someitmes a dismissal if you were going between 35 and 45 once the sign becomes visible. Base on your question, it seem ssafe to assume that you were going faster than the previous speed limit before you passed the sing for the higher limit. I fyou need assitance in obtainng a pleas to alesser charge, or in defending this action, you may email me directly. If I can't help, I will try to find someone who can
