Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas
Receiving ticket in mail
I was pulled over in ks by a local officer in balwin city ks. he pulled me over 4 an off duty officer from ottawa ks. he said i passed him in a no passing zone and he is going 2 take my info and send me a ticket in the mail, there's much more 2 the story, i did not pass in a nopassing zone, this i believe is a serious ticket, is this legal and do i have 2 accept the mail and if i don't can they suspend my license?

Re: Receiving ticket in mail
If you refuse the mail, you may be deemed to have been served IF they send it to teh address in your driver's license. If the Court deems you as having been served, and you fail to show up for Court, you may have a judgment taken against you, and a bench warrant issued. The warrant will in almost every case NOT be actively pursued. But, you could get pulled over sometime in teh future, and be arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
The worse scenario (although unlikely) is that KS suspends your driving priveledges, and MN reciprocates by suspending your driver's license until you deal with the KS ticket.
If you do recieve a ticket,a nd would like to discuss it further, you may contact me by phone or email.
Good Luck,
