Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas

Stop sign on private property.

My husband was ticketed for running a stop sign leaving work. His work is on private property in Kansas, as is the stop sign. His work didn't ticket him (it's a trucking company so they would have to ticket alot of people), but the police did. Is that legal?

Re: Stop sign on private property.

If the ticket was actually for failure to yield, it may be a valid ticket. In some areas, one must stop before entering a public hiaghway from a private drive. If it is for failure to do something wholly on private property, it may not be a legitimate ticket.

Are you certain that the stop sign is on private property? Sometimes there are short streets that only hve one business on them. After time, they start to appear as a driveway for that business.

Read the location information listed on the ticket. It should tell you where the officer said the infraction occurred.
