Given that ticket for driving while suspended. afterwards told to drive my vehicle home by the police officer. is this double standard reason for a dismissal?

Yours is a common question. Unfortunately, the.officer telling you to drive the vehicle home is not a defense to the driving while suspended charge (it could be to a 2nd charge if you had been ticketed on the way home.). The only two good defenses are; you weren't driving, or your license wadn't suspended.
You should consult with a defense attorney in your area to avoid jail time and/or subsequent suspension.
Good luck
