Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas

I got a ticket from a highway patrol officer. He claimed i was going 77 in a 60mph zone. After giving me the ticket, I asked him to see the radar gun. He told me he didnt lock in the speed so he couldnt show me it. Can I get out of this ticket easily? What do I need to do? Thank You! -my court date is set for November

The citing officer is not required to display or save the speed recorded on a radar device. He must testify that he observed you speeding in his jurisdiction, that his radar recorded 77 in a 60 MPH zone, that he was qualified to use the radar, and that it was properly working on said date.

You have the right to a trial, and to require the jurisdiction to prove the above beyond a reasonable doubt. If, however, you must keep this citation off of your driving record, and do not want to risk a trial, the DA has the discretion to amend some citations to nonmoving violations.

If I can be of additional assistance, feel free to call or email.
