Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas
Tinted Car Windows
We got a ticket for having too dark of a tint - but we bought the car from a dealer. Went back to dealer and said they no longer are in business. Who is responsible for this? I did not ask for tinted windows - the car came that way from the lot. Thanks, Debbie

Re: Tinted Car Windows
As to the ticket, the driver is responsible for the tint. If the dealer sold the car in a condition that is illegal in the jurisdiction where they are, they might be liable for changing the tint. However, window tint is sometimes regulated by city ordinance. You did not indicate what law enforcement agency (cop. deputy, highway patrol) that issued the ticket. Nor did you say what statutute or ordinace you are accused of violating. You can answer both of those questions by looking at the ticket itself.
