Statute of limitations have nothing to do with a time limit for the government to collect money for or prosecute you for a traffic ticket. Statute of limitations limit the amount of time from when you commit a violation of law to when the government charges you with the crime.

Obviously, you were charged with the crime the day the ticket was written. The government can now collect the fine this year, next year or 50 years from now.
