Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kansas
What can I do?
I was visiting a town 300 miles away from where I live, and got pulled over for an expired tag. I forgot to call and pay it, and am now facing a failure to appear. I just need to know if there's anything I can do from where I live, or who I can contact to see what I can do. I can't drive up there again, it is too expensive for me to ask off of work and go all the way there. I can pay whatever fines I may need to, if I can just do something about it here where I live. What can I do?

Re: What can I do?
You did not indicate which jurisdiction in Kansas issued the summons and Bench Warrant. In most, if your vehicle is now licensed, you can have an attorney negotiate aplea agreement wherein you plead to a lesser offense, such as failure to disply the proper tags, and pay a heavier fine. Through affidavit, your attorney may be able to enter that plea without your being there.
If this took place within 30 miles of Kansas City, I may be able to assist you. Otherwise, contact the local bar association where the court is located, you you might search over the net.
