Estates and Medicaid
My mother is in the resthome with alzheimers. My father is paying $2700 a month to the resthome. The family is worried that he will become destitute. What can my father do to protect what assets he has left?

Perhaps your mother could become eligible for Medicare. It would depend upon the amount of her assets. Also, you might consider having in-house care rather than having your mother in a nursing home. Perhaps you and your siblings could alternate leaves of absence from work, and take your mother into your homes for short periods of time.
