What is the best power of attorney to use for a single parent to give full legal powers to son. Also if the parent lives in different city and county does it make difference were the document is drawn up and does a power of attorney have to filed.

General Durable POA
A general durable power of attorney will permit the designated person to act in your behalf while you're living and should you become incapacitated temporarily or permenantly. Unless specifically limited to certain duties, authority can be given for anything from sale of real estate to medical consents. One must have great confidence in the person upon whom they confer this wide power--it will take the same kind of document to rescind the authority given. As a resident of KS, it does not matter that you and your son reside in different cities, counties of the state--you may execute the document where you live.
