Re: how soon should worker compensation start paying lost pay
If you have been taken off work by the authorized doctor, no compensation is due for the first week. After you have been off work for two weeks, a check should be sent for one week's compensation benefits. If you are off for three consecutive weeks, you will then be paid for the first week's benefits. Weekly benefits will continue until you are released to return to work by the doctor authorized to treat you.
You must file a written claim with your employer within 200 days from your accident or last payment of benefits or last visit with the authorized doctor to preserve your claim. You must have an application for hearing on file with the Workers compensation Division within 3 years from you accident or 2 years from the last payment of benefits or authorized doctor's visit or your claim will be denied.
