Re: Bankruptcy
An individual can file bankruptcy on their own without an attorney. It can be messy, but it can be done. The petition to file can be downloaded from the website for the bankruptcy court in your area (either Western or Eastern District of Kentucky) and you can find it through a search on the internet.
There are people who will sell you the forms for $100.00, but these are free forms.
The more important question for you is whether bankruptcy is going to help. If you have no income and the loan on your car is secured by a lien against the car, then you will end up losing the vehicle in or out of a bankruptcy.
So, the real value of using an attorney is in helping you figure out if to file and when it would most help you. If you file now and get minmal relief, then you are barred from filing a Chapter 7 for eight more years.
