I owe the Department of Defense a large sum of money, due to educational fees. It looks that I will be unable to pay said fees and have no valuable assets. Can I file bankruptcy?

It is difficult to determine if these are dischargeable debts or not or if they are dischargeable only under certain conditions. If they are not dischargeable or only dischargeable under certain conditions, then a Chapter 13 may be a better option than a Chapter 7. To make the determination, the documents underlying the debts would have to be reviewed and the rest of your circumstances taken into consideration.
