Legal Question in Business Law in Kentucky
I was hired through the University of Kentucky temporary services for a job that was suppose to last through June but was told the other day that my job is ending the end of May. They said it had nothing to do with my job performance but they are needing to hire someone full-time because this particular department grew faster than they anticipated. I was hired part-time and made it clear from the start I was not interested in full-time because I on social security and my income is limited. They said that they were pretty sure this job would not turn into full-time position and that they felt sure it would be permnant part-time after the three months. My question is are they liable to pay me through the end of June?

As a Franchise Attorney I can tell you the following. Unless you have a written employment agreement that specifies a term, it's an at-will employment relationship. This means either party can terminate for no cause or reason at any time. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
