Legal Question in Business Law in Kentucky
Preparation of legal documents
Would it be legal to open a document preparation business to prepare petitions for dissolution of marriage, wills, deeds, motions, uniform child support orders, etc., for a fee if they are signed pro se? Where can I research this matter? This is strictly document preparation, no legal advice.
I am a legal assistant and have recenlty suffered a severe loss of hearing which limits my abilities to perform in a professional office. However I would like to continue working in the legal field. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Re: Preparation of legal documents
what you would be doing is practicing law and is prohibited. While you could prepare your own documents for your personal needs, you can neither prepare, assist nor provide the means for others to prepare such things. This is a criminal offense punishable by up to 12 months in jail, a $500 fine or both. In addition, you would be subject to action by the Bar Association.
