Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kentucky

Civil Rights during Extradition

I am the mother of the prisoner who is

29 years of age. He was in Mississippi and arrested on Child Support Issues of which the warrant was initiated in KY where he lived prior to MS. After being held in MS waiting for KY to transport him to here, He feels his civil rights were violated. He was transported by a

company called Transcorp . He was not

allowed to shower for over 5 days while on the bus, they were not allowed to wash their hands after using the restroom and or before eating. He is totally upset about the lack of hygiene. He was never allowed to

brush his teeth. Please tell me these are not normal practices and that this is not acceptable.

The company was hired in KY for the MS pickup however he went to OK. AZ and Cali on this trip so I didn't mark any state other than KY.

Thank you In Advance

Re: Civil Rights during Extradition

You definitely have raised some civil rights issues, particularly given the serious consequences of that level of poor hygiene.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to hire a lawyer [or find one to look into it pro bono, such as through your local ACLU].

It sounds like there may also be some jurisdictional issues, and certainly one could contest the incarceration in the form of the transport through various states without access to legal counsel.
