Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Kentucky

Misssrepresentation in personal relationship

In 2001, a former classmate wrote a girlfriend and asked that she get in touch with me and make sure I attended a class reunion. I did and due to his urging I ended a marriage. He stated he had made the money and now wanted to travel and see lots of the world and wanted someone to do so with him and that I was the one he wanted to do so with.

I had a two plus year relationship. He did not have the money he said, we never went anyplace and he basically sponged off me. He kept a lot of secrets from me. Can I sue him for making false promises to me and for alienation of affection with my former husband.

Re: Misssrepresentation in personal relationship

No: you left your husband because you thought you saw a better deal. It turned out not to be, that's it. He's not the only shallow one here: you can't make a contract with someone to keep promises and use your marriage vows as consideration.
