I am a working college student and cant really afford a attorney. what is the cheepest attorney for cases of shoplifting in jefferson county. or is there a cheeper route i can take??

You can ask the Judge to appoint a Public Defender to represent you, if you qualify.
Otherwise, you can expect an attorney fee of $250 to $500 if charged with a misdemeanor (value of stolen item less than $300), or $500 to $1500 if charged with a felony (value more than $300).
If you are a student at a Louisville college, I would be glad to represent you for $100.
