Legal Question in Consumer Law in Kentucky

I have paid a total of $3900.00 ($3500.00 down and 2 pymts of $200.00) on a vehicle at a used car lot and it started breaking down before I paid my 1st pymt. Is there anything I can do?

Probably not, but your paperwork will tell you for sure. Generally, you buy used cars without warranty or any guarantee, but if there is a defect the dealership should have known about and concealed, you could have a case.

It is always a good idea to purchase a vehicle only subject to a mechanic's inspection. That doesn't mean a year from now the engine won't blow up, but no one can really predict that. However, it will at least identify any current problems with the vehicle and let you know whether the decision to purchase is a good one.

Regardless, you can usually assume if a used car salesman's lips are moving, he's feeding you a line. Don't take their word for anything. Confirm it with documentation and certainly have the vehicle inspected. Then you'll feel much less ripped off, even if you have to make later repairs.
