Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Kentucky

debt settlement

I went to credit solutions which is a debt settlement company. I gave them all my creditors & they said these were ones that worked with them. Now my creditors are turning my accounts over to lawyers. Credit Solutions says they are just trying to intimidate me & I shouldn't worry. Can they sue me now that I'm in this program?

Re: debt settlement

Creditors are not required to accept whatever a "debt settlement company" may offer them. They can choose to continue collecting the debt, by bills, phone calls, and ultimately, lawsuits.

Creditors can be required to accept less than what they are owed in a Chapter 13 or Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceeding. Debt management companies typically do not admit that, because they would lose you as a client.

Many bankruptcy lawyers offer a free initial consultation. It may be worth your time to take to a professional about your specific situation.

Good luck!
