Judgment Creditor
I was awarded a judgment against a guy for $1500.00.
I have tried Garnishments (wage and Non wage), bank levys, seizures.The court house told me I could not place a mechanic lien because I am not a contractor. What other options are there that I could do to collect this judgment on my own. And is a claim of lien the same as a mechanic lien?

You can do the equivalent of a mechanics lien, by recording your judgment or an abstract of judgment and thereby getting a judgment lien. You can also record liens on personal property. The effect of the judgment lien is to require your lien to be paid off before the property is sold, in order for a title issurance policy to issue. More than likely your lien will be paid off.

As your post question indicates, you cannot file a
mechanic's lien against the debtor's property, but
you can file a judgment lien. Check with your County
Clerk (not Circuit Clerk) for detail (or consult a
lawyer).
