Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky
Auto accident
Our car was hit by a man on his property. The car was parked and he backed into it. We have two repair estimates and he still refuses to pay unless we take it to his choice of body shop. Do we have to take it to his choice? We have contacted the man and have had no progress, the body shop that he is wanting us to take the car to is known for very bad work. We did check into them but I don't feel like we will get the car fixed in the proper way. I really need to know if we have to do what he tells us to do with the car when he is the one that hit it?
Thank you for your time.

Re: Auto accident
This is not a criminal law question. You do not have to have the car repaired at all. He owes you money for your damage. If he will not pay the estimate then you can bring suit against him. If he pays the money, you can stick the money in your pocket or have the car fixed. Your choice. It is your responsibility to provide him with good faith estimates and let him have the estimates verified by someone of his choice. By the way, where are the insurance companies in this. You should notify your insurance company and he should notify his.
