Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky
Exponged Charges
I am applying for a new job. One of the questions on the application is ''Have you ever been convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic violation?'' You then have to sign, give your SS# and DOB. This tells me they will do a background check. 4 years ago I was involved in a domestic dispute with my now ex-husband. I was charged with 4th degree assault and had to go to anger control classes. 6 months later my attorney had my charges expunged. How do I answer this question on the application?

Re: Expunged Charges
If the charges were expunged, then it is as if they never occurred -- so you can answer the question "No, I have never been convicted ..." (assuming you have no other, non-expunged, convictions.
