Juvenile laws
My 17 yr. old was questioned for & or8 hours one night and the police did not contact us before doing so. When we asked the detective about it he said it must have been a miss communication. Was this legal for them to qestion her without our knowledge?

Re: Juvenile laws
No, the police may not question a minor without the consent of the parents, especially not for 7 or 8 hours. If your daughter asked for her attorney, they should have immediately stopped questioning until you or her attorney could be notified and be present. As her parents, you should have been immediately called and allowed at any questioning. You should have success getting statements made by your daughter during this time period suppressed, but as always, it depends on the individual facts of each case. Good luck.
