Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky
How long can the hold property?
A search warrant was executed and numerous computers, cameras, documents, etc. were taken. The complaint that initiated the search was a possible zoning violation for a ''sexually oriented business''. I have left the area to avoid having a continued issue with zoning, but without this equipment I am unable to run my business. How long can they keep my property? I understand that they can keep it until the charges are resolved, but what if no charges are brought? Is there no resaonableness applied to holding thousands of dollars worth of property as evidence for a zoning violation that has a potential fine of $250?

Re: How long can the hold property?
You probably should hire an attorney to file something with the local court requesting return of your property.
