Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky
Pleading guilty to SOME charges.
An individual i know has been charged with 40 counts of a specific crime. He says he is guilty of only 20. His lawyer said he can't plead guilty to only 20 but has to either plead guilty to all or plead not guilty. He said you need to plead guilty and let the truth come out in the trial. Is this so or is the lawyer pushing for a trial for the $$$

Re: Pleading guilty to SOME charges.
His lawyer is probably telling him that the Commonwealth attorney won't make a deal on some counts and not others. Most Prosecutors want to resolve a case as an all or nothing deal.
