Can a family member that is a lawyer represent you i a court of law? For instance if my daughter is a lawyer can I as her mother hire her to represent me?

Yes, as long as she is licensed in the state in which the legal work is to be performed.

Yes, if the relative/lawyer is licensed in the state where the law suit is pending, the relative/lawyer can represent you.
It is frequently a bad idea, however, because part of what you are paying for when you hire a lawyer is that lawyer's independent, objective, professional judgment. That judgment can be affected by family relationships and probably should not be put to the test on any case of any significance.
