Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky
Reopen Detention Status
How many times can you request the court reopen someones detention status? This person hasn't been to trail yet but because of the Federal 10+ year possible sentence the drug charge carries he was required to submit to drug test pending trial. He did not pass the drug test and was held in custody until trial. Also is it a bad choice to contact the Judge by mail and ask him/her to reconsider?
Thanks
Kristi

Re: Reopen Detention Status
DON'T CONTACT THE JUDGE!!!!!. At this stage, he should have an attorney (either hired or appointed. This is the person to whom these questions should be addressed. There may be reasons here that you are unaware of why certain things are done or not done. There may be a defense strategy thay you may interfere with.
