Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky
Shoplifting Punishment?
I am a single-parent of two small children . While shopping 3 days ago I made a stupid decision to steal $143.00 worth of merchandise from a local department store and was caught. This is my first offense and I cooperated completely and was arrested. Could you please give me an idea of what my punishment would likely be?.I am seeking treatment to find out exactly what would make me set such a bad example and have truly learned my lesson. Thank you for your help.

Based on what you have told us, it appears that you may
qualify for a diversion program (if available in your county).
The good news is that the dollar amount falls under our $300
felony limit. You are almost certain to avoid jail (just don't
curse at the judge or the police or the store people in court)! :-)
