Re: My Son
Your son needs to get serious about his legal problems. Ignoring them will not make them go away.
He should sit down with an experienced criminal defense lawyer and put together a serious proposed plan of how he intends to address the problems he has gotten himself into. He may need psychological/psychiatric counseling; he may need substance abuse treatment; he may need job counseling. If he brings the court a comprehensive, but doable, plan, he may be able to persuade the court not to send him off for five years.
He has put himself behind the eight ball, but there is still a chance, at this late date, that he can come out of this without too much more pain.
Get a good lawyer, put together a plan, go to the judge, and hope for the best.
Good luck.
