unlawful transaction with a minor

is ''unlawful transaction with a minor'' a misdemeanor charge? i have never heard of this charge before. my husband and i were out of town on vacation and my children had a party. my son is 20 years old and my daughter is 16. the police showed up due to neighbor's complaining and my son fled. my daughter was not drinking, however my son was as were several of his friends and her friends too. the police made everyone leave our house (including my daughter) and told her that there would be a warrant issued for my son's arrest. they brought him in for questioning and he did so willingly, now almost a month later he was arrested. our house was also burglarized after the police had everyone leave, that is why i involved them in an investigation. they will not return our calls as to the outcome of the theft investigation. we even provided them with the name of the person who committed the theft (there was an eyewitness). can you help??

The offense of "unlawful transaction with a minor" is defined in KRS (Kentucky Revised Statutes) Chapter 530.064, 065 and 070. There are three degrees of this charge. When the activity involves the use of alcohol, the chage is a class "A" misdemeanor which carries a penalty of up to a $500 fine and/or up to 12 months in jail. Even though the law is supposed to be uniform, there are local nuances. Seek the input of a local attorney who is familiar with the local scene. In these times, police officers have little descretion especially when it comes to the relationship with adults and minors.
