i was wanting to know if in 2001 there was a statute of limitations in the state of kentucky for idenity theft

It is not possible to give you a clear legal answer to your inquiry without a more detailed evaluation of the facts of your case. Basically, Kentucky Revised Statute no. 514.160 makes Theft of Identity a "Class D" felony. There is no statute of limitations for felonies in Kentucky.
