If you are otherwise taking good care of your children, it may be wise to be pro-active and call the state social services and ask for assistance along with going to the homeless shelter. If you are trying to get away from domestic violence, go to a domestic violence shelter! Typically, if you are seeking help and basically taking good care of your children, but have few or no resources, your children would not be taken from you. Caution though, there are so many different factors that go into such a thing that you cannot rely on this as advise for your particular situation and only as a general rule of thumb.
