Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
Back in 2006 is obtained limited guardianship of my niece, my sister signed her over to me. A year later my sister got mad at me and took my niece to her mother in law and gave her custody. Now the mother in law is dead and my niece has been living with me since she died. Are my guardianship papers still valid or do I need to reapply?

To be safe you should reapply, however, if you have had primary responsibility of your niece for more than a year you could choose to file for custody of your niece rather than guardianship. You should discuss this option with an attorney as it may have additional benefits over a guardianship processing.
