Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
Can we be sent bills on her word?
My husband and his former spouse went through an acrimonious child support modification. Lately, she has not been harrassing us as much, but she continues to have businesses with which she has contracted services for the child bill us directly even though we have not contracted with any of these businesses and these are not services we are required to pay per the modification. We are already paying a hefty sum weekly, plus 64% of child care and medical on top of that. The money is to go for the child, but she seems to think anything else is our responsibility, also. Is there anything we can do to protect ourselves from her having these bills sent to us in our name? She needs to stop, but it also disturbs me that the businesses send these to us on her word. What can we do? Thanks!

i would simply send each organization trying to collect from you a statement saying that you did not incur the bill and are not directly responsible to them for it and tell them to send it back to your ex and give her name and address. this may not work in all cases, but should help out some. if it becomes too extreme, you could file a motion with the court to keep her from doing this.
