Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

My boyfriend and I met when I was pregnant. After the birth of the child, he wanted to adopt him and be his father. No legal adoption took place because the biological father did not want to acknowledge paternity or have anything to do with the child and I. Since there was no one to sign paternity from, the boyfriend just signed the birth certificate and acknowledged paternity with no formal legal procedure.

The boyfriend lived with the child and raised him as his father for a period of one year. The boyfriend and I have since broken up. For a period of time after the break up, he still acknowledged that he was the child's father and took care of him.

Suddenly he has decided that he no longer wants to be the father. Is he able to remove his name from the birth certificate because they are not biologically related? What legal obligation does he have to take care of the child, if any? Since one year has passed, would the biological father have any right to become part of the child's life?

Your ex-boyfriend has no legal obligation as he is not likely to state now that he is the father of the child. The biological father has a right to visitation if he pursues it through the courts and you have a right to child support from the biological father is you seek same through the courts.
