Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

cashing out retirement, she won't

After my friend married his wife, he had to cash out his retirement ($8,000) to pay down on a house she wanted to buy from her dad. She has also ($8,000) in a money market account that she is now hiding and refuses to use to pay off any of the debt. He accumilated the money before they were married. she accumilated her money before they were married. The house he used his money on belonged to her family. what is going to happen. does he have any right to that money of hers to help pay some of the marital debt?

Re: cashing out retirement, she won't

Your friend's pre-marital property is his and he would be entitled to some sort of pro-rata reimbursment of that in the home. the main problem that arises is that some of this is difficult to account for. My "always" advice is to consult competent local counsel who can set down one on one with your friend and flesh out the details.
