Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Child Support

I have been divorced since 2001. We signed a shared parenting agreement in Ohio. We are now both residence of Ky. We pay no child support. The dad is gone 2-3 weeks each month on his job. He now doesn't want to pay tuition for school ($50 per week). I want child support so I can maintain her schooling and her life without him and still pay for summer daycare while I work. Any advice?

Re: Child Support

If you both have resided in Kentucky for at least six months (and I take it that means the children also), then Kentucky courts can take jurisdiction. The cleanest approach would be to file a motion in Ohio to transfer the matter to Kentucky. That is probably the most expensive. The other option is to file a petition in Kentucky to establish child support and let the Kentucky judge determine jurisdiction.
