Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

My child is 5 years old her absent father now wants visitation and or custody of her.when he found out i was pregnant he told me to get an abortion.i chose to have her on my own.can he take her?or can he get visitation?

The court may want proof that he is the father and they will expect him to pay child support. If the court is satisfied that he is the father, then the judge must allow visitation, by law, unless you can show that to do so would seriously endanger her well-being.

By law, he is presumed to have joint custody of her. Custody means legal authority. It is a separate issue in many ways from visitation. He would have a hard time proving to the court that she would be better off living with him, but he would most likely get some level of legal authority in her life.
