Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Collecting Child Support

I was wondering how I would go about to get my older son's father to pay child support that he hasn't paid in almost 3 years. He pay's it when ever he feels like it. But he doesn't want anything to do with our son. Also I was wondering if I could get it where he doesn't have to pay the child support. He doesn't have any rights, except his parental rights. He does not have any visitation rights. He doesn't come and see our son when we call him and ask him. He tells us that he does and he never shows up. He has sent word that he can't afford to pay the child support that was set by the court. If you can help that would be grately appreciated.

Thank you

Re: Collecting Child Support

Call you local child support office. If you cannot locate the number in the phone book, call your local county attorney or circuit court clerk. Also, seek the advice of local counsel. There are solutions to your problem. The father of your oldest child faces serious jail time. If he is working, it is not a question of "affording it". Child support comes before car payments, rent or anything else. Pursue it. You will not have to have any money for the child support office and may not need any for private counsel at the start.
